Video Editing Tutorials

The following links are to specific video editing tutorials that I have either created or found elsewhere on the web.

These pages talk about the basics of editing, about deinterlacing for editors, about video converters to move your video from one type to another and about animation.

While many of you will want to use your edit software in a very straightforward way (Cut from one scene to another), there is some benefit to understanding the psychology of the edit and theories such as 'cutting on action'. The attached tutorials will explain that concept and illustrate the benefit of these items.

With the advent of High Definition video, the concept of creating "proxy's" in your videos to stand in for the high def (HD) scenes is now starting to occur. We'll discuss the use of proxies as well as what the different codecs mean.

With YouTube becoming a key part of our everyday life I will explain some of the items needed to create a good quality YouTube video, too.

By the way if you still need convincing about the power of editing, take a look at this link to see what a really good editor can do.

So if you want to see a basic video editing tutorial that talks about insert edits, overlay edits, slipping, sliding , 'J' cuts and 'L' cuts, the click this link
