A key to good editing is understanding the technical editing concepts that make your average video great.

There's more to just editing than detailing how to add a couple of pieces of video and audio together. Even if we talk about 'J' cuts and 'L' cuts, we are still looking at a narrow part of the editing spectrum.

This part of the site is focusing on some of the other items needed to enable good editing.

The Film Look from Video
A lot of people want to know how to make their video look like film. This is considered the Holy Grail of home video (In fact if you look at something like the Red video camera they appear to have done it, but at a cost!)

For us mere mortals wanting to do it in the cheap it's impossible. Or is it? Surprisingly enough a lot of the film look is dependent on the camera, the shooting style and lighting techniques.
