products that
you may want to look at to help you with your video making.

to you as a
video maker and we would advise you to review these with a view to
purchasing.
Editing books:
To
understand the art of the edit, as well as gain insight from one of
the foremest film editors of our time, Academy Award winning Walter
Murch, I personally recommend his book "In
the Blink of an Eye".
This
book is referenced on the video
editing tutorial page.
Walter has edited films such as Apocalypse
Now
and The
Conversation
and
has recently become a big advocate of video editing having originally
been against the idea. He has some excellent comments and views on
editing as well as tips and recommendations for editors at home.
eBooks
eBooks/DVD's are good video editing products that are worth reviewing.
The following item has been brought to our attention. It is a course
for anyone wishing to take their editing a step further
and put video on the web. This could be for a business or on client or
personal websites. The author uses open
source and trial
products (such
as those listed on this site) to succesfully deploy Flash video sites. Click

Screencasts
If you're looking to make screencasts that really drive your point home
and get that more professional look then you could do worse than to
invest in this product. It's a complete course
explaining how to make the best screencast you can to help sell your
product.
If you do decide to add video
to your sight and want to make your videos stand out from the normal,
drab Youtube style videos that you see on many sights, then you could
do worse than to invest in a set of 'skins to make them look a bit
different
I think you'll agree these look far better than the normal ones you see
on sites. To get these skinz click

Films
There is only one way to really understand good editing and that's to
watch it in action. In the editing tutorial pages I mention different
types of edits as well as talking about films that have examples of
this.
 The
classic of 'montage' (in the Soviet sense of the word) is Sergei
Eisenstein's "Battleship
Potemkin" with it's famous "Odessa Steps"
sequence that was emulated by Brian DePalma in "The Untouchables"
At only 74 minutes long it's a short classic, but a classic nonetheless.
For a film that show's classic jump cuts you could watch either Lawrence
of Arabia or 2001
A Space Oddysey. Both are classics (and should be in your
movie collection regardless!)
If you want to see all the films that are mentioned on this site they
are all listed at the Free Video Editing Bookstore. Click
